Kath Roberts

Biography: Kath Roberts began learning violin at the age of six. Currently taught by Caroline Balding, she achieved 77 in her first-year recital and hopes to pursue performance in her future.

She is the leader of the Southampton University Symphony Orchestra and co-leader of the University Sinfonietta. Other orchestral experience includes the Kensington Philharmonic Orchestra, Solent Symphony Orchestra, Street Orchestra London, and the London Musical Theatre Orchestra. In her second year of studying BA music at Southampton, she is focusing on solo and ensemble performance. Kath leads the Pingvin String Quartet and studies the ensemble performance module with this group.

She enjoys many different aspects of musical performance, also holding a university choral scholarship with Cantores Michaelis, and being the musical director of the University Singers. Her interest in the arts spans into her involvement on the performing arts societies committees, being publicity officer of the university symphony orchestra, Vice President of Sinfonietta, and the President of the Chamber Music Society, which she founded in her first year at the university. Outside of the University, Kath is the ‘Introduction to Music’ teacher at Questors Young Musicians Club and teaches violin privately.
